Subject: WESTBEND/River Plaza Development-MEETING MONDAY JAN 28 6:30 ZOO EDUCATION CENTER
Please post this and all comments can be sent to the site-
As many of you may have heard, the development below our neighborhood on the River near the River Plaza Tower is back on line and is proceeding. You may recall that this project was presented to the City some time back and involved a pedestrian bridge over to the Zoo. The bridge has now been eliminated from the project and the footprint of the project is smaller than originally presented. In a nutshell, this is a mixed use project that will include a hotel, retail and parking. The developer is TradeMark and they are using Gideon Toal for the project. Of particular note to the neighborhood is a parking garage that will be located on the North or downstream side of the development. Streams and Valleys raised a number of concerns about elements of the development and last Friday, Gideon Toal and the Developer reached an agreement to modify the plan to meet their concerns. Because this development will be located close to our neighborhood and just down the bluff, it is important for all of us to know what is going on and have an opportunity to study the plans and ask questions. Yesterday after Kathy sent the alert, the developer and Gideon Toal agreed to pull the approval of this project from the City Council Agenda today so that Mistletoe residents could have the opportunity to understand what is being presented for approval. The developer and Gideon Toal agreed to conduct an informational meeting this coming Monday, January 28 at 6:30 pm at the Zoo Education Center. Gideon Toal will present the development and be able to respond to questions and concerns that you may have about the Project. So that your are aware, this project will indirectly affect what happens regarding additional parking for the Zoo. We may have to request an additional meeting with the City or the Zoo, but understand that these issues are interrelated. I have attached the most up to date schematics received from Gideon Toal, which reflect the changes requested by Streams and Valleys. Please try to attend the meeting on Monday at the Zoo.
